|
| How can I be sure my
bank/credit union will accept files created by EZ-ACH®?
|
EZ-ACH® creates a 94-bit NACHA
formatted ACH origination file that most financial institutions will accept. We
cannot, however, guarantee that your financial institution will accept a
pre-formatted file created by a third party software. To ensure that they do,
we encourage you to contact your financial institution directly.

|
| Why do I need to
involve my financial institution in this? |
There are many reasons why we encourage you
to talk to your bank or credit union before making the decision to purchase our
software. For one, some banks prefer to use their own proprietary software for
ACH processing. Another reason is that not all banks process ACH files. Some
banks prefer raw data be sent to them for processing. Others will happily
accept your ACH Origination file created by EZ-ACH®. We want you to be
confident in your purchase of EZ-ACH®.

|
| What ACH formats does EZ-ACH®
support? |
The current EZ-ACH® V4.0.4 for Windows
supports the WEB (new for Internet transactions), TEL (new for
Telephone transactions), PPD, CCD, CIE, POP, and
RCK formats.
EZ-ACH® V3.0.X supports PPD, CCD, CIE,
POP, and RCK formats.
EZ-ACH® V2.3 for DOS supports the PPD,
CCD, CCD+, CIE, and CTX formats.
Please
note that versions 2.3 and 3.x are no longer available for purchase.

EZ-ACH® on any type of network.

|
| Can EZ-ACH® be
used to electronically collect returned checks? |
Yes,
NACHA rules allow for checks
to be represented over the ACH Network. EZ-ACH® supports the Standard Entry
Class Code "RCK" (for Represented Check Entry) that became effective
on September 17,1999.

|
| Are there ongoing
costs for EZ-ACH® software? Are there any costs for transactions? Are there
any transaction fees for checks not paid, etc.? |
There are no on-going fees or
transaction costs from APC. Service firms that use EZ-ACH® to provide
an ACH service to other firms will probably charge fees. Of course, if you are
the firm that buys EZ-ACH® then the only transaction costs would be from
your bank or credit union that will be "originating" the ACH for you
and passing it to the Federal Reserve for distribution to all of your
customers' or employees' banks and credit unions.

|
| I provide
payroll services for a number of small businesses, can EZ-ACH® be used to
create output files for different banks? |
EZ-ACH® offers multi-origination bank
capability. A template is simply created that contains the originating bank
information for each of your customers.

|
| Can the import
function be set up to automatically import files or is it strictly a manual
process (i.e. Can you set up a batch process to import a file from another
platform)? |
File importing is a very powerful feature
of EZ-ACH® . You can set up a description of your file to be imported.
Then, each time you want to import the file, run the import function. File
import can match on routing-transit numbers, names, some unique identifier
(e.g. customer number, employee number) or a combination of these
fields.
|

|
| What formats does
the import function support? |
ASCII character delimited (comma, space, or
etc.)
|

|
| What type of output
is created? Does your package send the file by modem? |
ACH files are written to the hard disk or a
diskette. The files can then be transmitted using Microsoft's Hyperterminal,
Terminal, or any other free/fee file transfer program that you have.
Alternatively, the file can be hand-delivered on a diskette to your originating
financial institution. Please note that because EZ-ACH® is a standalone
software package, we cannot provide technical support for communications
software provided by your financial institution or for Microsoft Hyperterminal,
e-mail programs or Internet browsers.

|
| Does EZ-ACH®
use a check digit in the routing transit number for error checking?
|
Yes, it uses the standard Routing-Transit
number check digit routine but allows you to override.
|
|
| Does EZ-ACH® work
with ODBC databases? |
EZ-ACH® does not import data directly
from an ODBC database. The data must first be exported to an ASCII file
(sometimes called a flat file) and then it can be imported into EZ-ACH®. A
layout file must be created, but this is a one-time step - it does not have to
be re-created or modified if the format of the data remains the same. After the
data has been imported into EZ-ACH®, it can then be modified, sorted, etc.
When an origination file is created from the source file, it is converted to
NACHA format.

|
| Can I run a check through
an MICR reader and directly populate a field(s) in EZ-ACH® or must I create
a file and import it? |
EZ-ACH® can import a character
delimited file that was produced by a program that uses a MICR to capture the
routing-transit and account number on checks.
